(A song and a psalm by David.) / With God on Our Side Our God, I am faithful to you with all my heart, and you can trust me. I will sing and play music for you with all that I am.
O God, my heart is fixed; I will sing and give praise, even with my glory. |
I will start playing my harps before the sun rises. | Awake, psaltery and harp: I myself will awake early.
I will praise you, Lord, for everyone to hear; I will sing hymns to you in every nation. | I will praise thee, O Lord, among the people: and I will sing praises unto thee among the nations.
Your love reaches higher than the heavens, and your loyalty extends beyond the clouds. | For thy mercy is great above the heavens: and thy truth reacheth unto the clouds.
Our God, may you be honored above the heavens; may your glory be seen everywhere on earth. | Be thou exalted, O God, above the heavens: and thy glory above all the earth;
Answer my prayers and use your powerful arm to give us victory. Then the people you love will be safe. | That thy beloved may be delivered: save with thy right hand, and answer me.
Our God, from your holy place you made this promise: “I will gladly divide up the city of Shechem and give away Succoth Valley piece by piece. | God hath spoken in his holiness; I will rejoice, I will divide Shechem, and mete out the valley of Succoth.
The lands of Gilead and Manasseh are mine. Ephraim is my war helmet, and Judah is my symbol of royal power. | Gilead is mine; Manasseh is mine; Ephraim also is the strength of mine head; Judah is my lawgiver;
Moab is merely my washbasin, and Edom belongs to me. I shout with victory over the Philistines.” | Moab is my washpot; over Edom will I cast out my shoe; over Philistia will I triumph.
Our God, who will bring me to the fortress or lead me to Edom? | Who will bring me into the strong city? who will lead me into Edom?
Have you rejected us? You don't lead our armies. | Wilt not thou, O God, who hast cast us off? and wilt not thou, O God, go forth with our hosts?
Help us defeat our enemies! No one else can rescue us. | Give us help from trouble: for vain is the help of man.
Only you give us victory and crush our enemies. | Through God we shall do valiantly: for he it is that shall tread down our enemies.
