1	Esaus Familie und Nachkommen / Die Nachkommen Esaus Das ist die Familiengeschichte von Esau, der auch Edom genannt wird:	Now these are the generations of Esau, who is Edom.
2	Er hatte drei Frauen geheiratet, die aus Kanaan stammten. Sie hießen Ada, Oholibama und Basemat. Ada war die Tochter des Hetiters Elon. Oholibama war die Tochter des Ana und die Enkelin des Hiwiters Zibon.	Esau took his wives of the daughters of Canaan; Adah the daughter of Elon the Hittite, and Aholibamah the daughter of Anah the daughter of Zibeon the Hivite;
3	Basemat war eine Tochter von Ismael und die Schwester von Nebajot.	And Bashemath Ishmael’s daughter, sister of Nebajoth.
4	Ada war die Mutter von Esaus Sohn Elifas und Basemat die Mutter seines Sohnes Reguel.	And Adah bare to Esau Eliphaz; and Bashemath bare Reuel;
5	Oholibama war die Mutter von Jeusch, Jalam und Korach. Das sind Esaus Söhne, die in Kanaan geboren wurden.	And Aholibamah bare Jeush, and Jaalam, and Korah: these are the sons of Esau, which were born unto him in the land of Canaan.
6	Aber dann verließ Esau das Land. Er nahm seine Frauen, Söhne und Töchter mit, ebenso alle Leute, die sonst zu ihm gehörten. Er nahm auch seinen ganzen Besitz mit: seine Viehherden und all sein Hab und Gut, das er im Land Kanaan erworben hatte. Esau zog in ein anderes Land, weit weg von seinem Bruder Jakob.	And Esau took his wives, and his sons, and his daughters, and all the persons of his house, and his cattle, and all his beasts, and all his substance, which he had got in the land of Canaan; and went into the country from the face of his brother Jacob.
7	Denn die Brüder waren so wohlhabend geworden, dass sie nicht mehr an einem Ort wohnen konnten. Das Land, in dem sie als Fremde lebten, hatte nicht genügend Weide für ihre großen Herden.	For their riches were more than that they might dwell together; and the land wherein they were strangers could not bear them because of their cattle.
8	Darum ließ sich Esau im Bergland Seir nieder. Esau steht für Edom.	Thus dwelt Esau in mount Seir: Esau is Edom.
9	Das ist der Familienstammbaum von Esau: Er ist der Stammvater der Edomiter, die im Bergland Seir leben.	And these are the generations of Esau the father of the Edomites in mount Seir:
10	So lauten die Namen von Esaus Söhnen: Elifas war der Sohn von Esaus Frau Ada, Reguel der Sohn von Esaus Frau Basemat.	These are the names of Esau’s sons; Eliphaz the son of Adah the wife of Esau, Reuel the son of Bashemath the wife of Esau.
11	Die Söhne von Elifas waren Teman, Omar, Zefo, Gatam und Kenas.	And the sons of Eliphaz were Teman, Omar, Zepho, and Gatam, and Kenaz.
12	Außerdem hatte Elifas von seiner Nebenfrau Timna noch einen Sohn, der Amalek hieß. Sie alle stammen von Esaus Frau Ada ab.	And Timna was concubine to Eliphaz Esau’s son; and she bare to Eliphaz Amalek: these were the sons of Adah Esau’s wife.
13	Die Söhne von Reguel waren Nahat, Serach, Schamma und Misa. Sie alle stammen von Esaus Frau Basemat ab.	And these are the sons of Reuel; Nahath, and Zerah, Shammah, and Mizzah: these were the sons of Bashemath Esau’s wife.
14	Esaus dritte Frau Oholibama war die Tochter des Ana und die Enkelin von Zibon. Sie bekam von Esau drei Söhne: Jeusch, Jalam und Korach.	And these were the sons of Aholibamah, the daughter of Anah the daughter of Zibeon, Esau’s wife: and she bare to Esau Jeush, and Jaalam, and Korah.
15	Auf Esaus Söhne gehen die Stämme der Edomiter zurück. Deshalb entsprechen ihre Namen denen von Esaus Söhnen. Auf Esaus ältesten Sohn Elifas gehen folgende Stämme zurück: Teman, Omar, Zefo, Kenas,	These were dukes of the sons of Esau: the sons of Eliphaz the firstborn son of Esau; duke Teman, duke Omar, duke Zepho, duke Kenaz,
16	Korach, Gatam und Amalek. Das sind die Stämme im Land Edom, die auf Elifas und damit auch auf Ada zurückgehen.	Duke Korah, duke Gatam, and duke Amalek: these are the dukes that came of Eliphaz in the land of Edom; these were the sons of Adah.
17	Auf Esaus zweiten Sohn Reguel gehen folgende Stämme zurück: Nahat, Serach, Schamma und Misa. Das sind die Stämme im Land Edom, die auf Reguel zurückgehen. Damit sind sie zugleich die Nachkommen von Esaus Frau Basemat.	And these are the sons of Reuel Esau’s son; duke Nahath, duke Zerah, duke Shammah, duke Mizzah: these are the dukes that came of Reuel in the land of Edom; these are the sons of Bashemath Esau’s wife.
18	Auf die Nachkommen von Esaus Frau Oholibama gehen folgende Stämme zurück: Jeusch, Jalam und Korach. Diese Stämme gehen auf Oholibama zurück. Sie war die Tochter des Ana und Esaus Frau.	And these are the sons of Aholibamah Esau’s wife; duke Jeush, duke Jaalam, duke Korah: these were the dukes that came of Aholibamah the daughter of Anah, Esau’s wife.
19	Sie alle sind Nachkommen Esaus und zugleich die Stämme der Edomiter.	These are the sons of Esau, who is Edom, and these are their dukes.
20	Die Nachkommen Seirs Die ursprünglichen Bewohner des Landes Edom waren Nachkommen des Horiters Seir. Dessen Söhne waren Lotan, Schobal, Zibon, Ana,	These are the sons of Seir the Horite, who inhabited the land; Lotan, and Shobal, and Zibeon, and Anah,
21	Dischon, Ezer und Dischan. Auf diese Söhne Seirs gehen die Stämme der Horiter im Land Edom zurück.	And Dishon, and Ezer, and Dishan: these are the dukes of the Horites, the children of Seir in the land of Edom.
22	Lotans Söhne waren Hori und Hemam, und Timna war seine Schwester.	And the children of Lotan were Hori and Hemam; and Lotan’s sister was Timna.
23	Schobals Söhne hießen Alwan, Manahat, Ebal, Schefi und Onam.	And the children of Shobal were these; Alvan, and Manahath, and Ebal, Shepho, and Onam.
24	Zibons Söhne hießen Aja und Ana. Ana fand in der Wüste heiße Quellen, als er die Esel seines Vaters Zibon hütete.	And these are the children of Zibeon; both Ajah, and Anah: this was that Anah that found the mules in the wilderness, as he fed the asses of Zibeon his father.
25	Anas Sohn hieß Dischon, und seine Tochter war Oholibama.	And the children of Anah were these; Dishon, and Aholibamah the daughter of Anah.
26	Dischons Söhne hießen Hemdan, Eschban, Jitran und Keran.	And these are the children of Dishon; Hemdan, and Eshban, and Ithran, and Cheran.
27	Ezers Söhne hießen Bilhan, Saawan und Akan.	The children of Ezer are these; Bilhan, and Zaavan, and Akan.
28	Dischans Söhne hießen Uz und Aran.	The children of Dishan are these; Uz, and Aran.
29	Das sind die Stämme, die das Volk der Horiter bildeten: Lotan, Schobal, Zibon, Ana,	These are the dukes that came of the Horites; duke Lotan, duke Shobal, duke Zibeon, duke Anah,
30	Dischon, Ezer und Dischan. Das waren die Stämme der Horiter im Land Seir, geordnet nach ihren Stammvätern.	Duke Dishon, duke Ezer, duke Dishan: these are the dukes that came of Hori, among their dukes in the land of Seir.
31	Die Könige der Edomiter Bevor ein König über die Israeliten herrschte, regierten folgende Könige im Land Edom:	And these are the kings that reigned in the land of Edom, before there reigned any king over the children of Israel.
32	Bela, der Sohn von Beor, regierte in Edom in der Stadt Dinhaba.	And Bela the son of Beor reigned in Edom: and the name of his city was Dinhabah.
33	Nach Belas Tod wurde Jobab an seiner Stelle König. Der war ein Sohn von Serach aus Bozra.	And Bela died, and Jobab the son of Zerah of Bozrah reigned in his stead.
34	Nach Jobabs Tod wurde Huscham an seiner Stelle König. Der kam aus dem Gebiet der Temaniter.	And Jobab died, and Husham of the land of Temani reigned in his stead.
35	Nach Huschams Tod wurde Hadad an seiner Stelle König. Der war ein Sohn von Bedad und besiegte die Midianiter auf dem Gebiet von Moab. Er regierte in der Stadt Awit.	And Husham died, and Hadad the son of Bedad, who smote Midian in the field of Moab, reigned in his stead: and the name of his city was Avith.
36	Nach Hadads Tod wurde Samla aus Masreka an seiner Stelle König.	And Hadad died, and Samlah of Masrekah reigned in his stead.
37	Nach Samlas Tod wurde Schaul aus Rehobot am Eufrat an seiner Stelle König.	And Samlah died, and Saul of Rehoboth by the river reigned in his stead.
38	Nach Schauls Tod wurde Baal-Hanan an seiner Stelle König. Der war ein Sohn von Achbor.	And Saul died, and Baal–hanan the son of Achbor reigned in his stead.
39	Nach dem Tod von Achbors Sohn Baal-Hanan wurde Hadar an seiner Stelle König. Der regierte in der Stadt Pagu. Seine Frau hieß Mehetabel. Sie war eine Tochter von Matred, die wiederum eine Tochter von Me-Sahab war.	And Baal–hanan the son of Achbor died, and Hadar reigned in his stead: and the name of his city was Pau; and his wife’s name was Mehetabel, the daughter of Matred, the daughter of Mezahab.
40	Weitere Stämme der Edomiter Das sind die Namen von Esaus Nachkommen. Sie sind geordnet nach ihren Familien und den Orten, die nach ihnen benannt sind: Timna, Alwa, Jetet,	And these are the names of the dukes that came of Esau, according to their families, after their places, by their names; duke Timnah, duke Alvah, duke Jetheth,
41	Oholibama, Ela, Pinon,	Duke Aholibamah, duke Elah, duke Pinon,
42	Kenas, Teman, Mibzar,	Duke Kenaz, duke Teman, duke Mibzar,
43	Magdiel und Iram. Das sind die Stämme der Edomiter. Sie sind geordnet nach ihren Wohnorten in dem Land, das sie in Besitz genommen hatten. Sie sind die Nachkommen von Esau, dem Stammvater der Edomiter.	Duke Magdiel, duke Iram: these be the dukes of Edom, according to their habitations in the land of their possession: he is Esau the father of the Edomites.
