1	Jesus betet für sich selbst Jesus beendete seine Rede. Danach blickte er zum Himmel auf und sagte: »Vater, die Stunde ist jetzt da! Lass die Herrlichkeit deines Sohnes sichtbar werden, damit der Sohn deine Herrlichkeit sichtbar machen kann.	These words spake Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee:
2	Du hast ihm Macht über alle Menschen gegeben. So kann er allen, die ihm anvertraut sind, das ewige Leben schenken.	As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him.
3	Darin aber besteht das ewige Leben: dich zu erkennen, den einzig wahren Gott, und den, den du gesandt hast, Jesus Christus.	And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.
4	Ich habe auf der Erde deine Herrlichkeit sichtbar gemacht. Denn ich habe das Werk vollendet, das du mir aufgetragen hast.	I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do.
5	Lass nun an mir die Herrlichkeit wieder sichtbar werden, die ich hatte, als ich bei dir war – bevor die Welt geschaffen wurde.«	And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was.
6	Jesus betet für seine Jünger »Ich habe dich bei den Menschen bekannt gemacht, die du mir in dieser Welt anvertraut hast. Sie gehörten dir, und du hast sie mir anvertraut. Sie haben sich nach deinem Wort gerichtet.	I have manifested thy name unto the men which thou gavest me out of the world: thine they were, and thou gavest them me; and they have kept thy word.
7	Jetzt wissen sie: Alles, was du mir aufgetragen hast, kommt wirklich von dir.	Now they have known that all things whatsoever thou hast given me are of thee.
8	Denn ich habe ihnen die Worte weitergegeben, die du mir aufgetragen hast, und sie haben sie angenommen. Sie haben wirklich erkannt, dass ich von dir gekommen bin. Und sie glauben nun, dass du mich gesandt hast.	For I have given unto them the words which thou gavest me; and they have received them, and have known surely that I came out from thee, and they have believed that thou didst send me.
9	Ich bete für sie. Ich bete nicht für diese Welt, sondern für die Menschen, die du mir anvertraut hast. Denn sie gehören dir.	I pray for them: I pray not for the world, but for them which thou hast given me; for they are thine.
10	Alles, was mir gehört, gehört auch dir, und was dir gehört, gehört auch mir. Durch diese Menschen wird meine Herrlichkeit sichtbar.	And all mine are thine, and thine are mine; and I am glorified in them.
11	Ich bleibe nicht länger in der Welt. Ich komme ja zu dir. Aber sie bleiben in der Welt. Heiliger Vater, bewahre sie in der Gemeinschaft mit dir, die ich ihnen verkündet habe. Dann gehören sie zusammen – so wie wir untrennbar eins sind.	And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are.
12	Solange ich bei ihnen war, habe ich sie in der Gemeinschaft mit dir bewahrt, die ich ihnen verkündet habe. Ich habe sie gut beschützt, und keiner von ihnen ist verloren gegangen – außer dem, der verloren gehen musste. Denn damit ging in Erfüllung, was die Heilige Schrift vorausgesagt hatte.	While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name: those that thou gavest me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled.
13	Jetzt komme ich zu dir. Ich sage das alles, solange ich noch in der Welt bin. Ich sage es, damit meine Freude sie ansteckt und ganz und gar erfüllt.	And now come I to thee; and these things I speak in the world, that they might have my joy fulfilled in themselves.
14	Ich habe ihnen dein Wort weitergegeben, und jetzt werden sie von dieser Welt gehasst. Denn sie gehören nicht zu dieser Welt, so wie auch ich nicht zu ihr gehöre.	I have given them thy word; and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.
15	Ich bitte dich nicht, sie aus dieser Welt wegzunehmen. Aber ich bitte dich, sie vor dem Bösen zu bewahren.	I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil.
16	Sie gehören nicht zu dieser Welt, so wie auch ich nicht zu ihr gehöre.	They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.
17	Mach sie durch die Wahrheit zu Menschen, die heilig sind. Dein Wort ist die Wahrheit.	Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.
18	So wie du mich in die Welt gesandt hast, genau so habe ich sie in die Welt gesandt.	As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world.
19	Für sie gebe ich mein Leben hin und gehöre so ganz zu dir. Dann gehören auch sie ganz zu dir und leben in der Wahrheit.«	And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth.
20	Jesus betet für alle, die zum Glauben kommen werden »Ich bete nicht nur für sie. Sondern ich bete auch für alle, die durch ihr Wort zum Glauben an mich kommen.	Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word;
21	Sie sollen alle untrennbar eins sein, so wie du, Vater, mit mir verbunden bist und ich mit dir. Dann können auch sie mit uns verbunden sein. Dann kann auch diese Welt glauben, dass du mich gesandt hast.	That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.
22	Ich habe ihnen die Herrlichkeit weitergegeben, die du mir geschenkt hast. Denn sie sollen eins sein, so wie wir eins sind.	And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one:
23	Ich bin mit ihnen verbunden und du mit mir, damit sie untrennbar eins sind. Daran soll diese Welt erkennen: Du hast mich gesandt, und du liebst sie, so wie du mich liebst.	I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.
24	Vater, du hast sie mir anvertraut. Ich will, dass sie mit mir dort sind, wo ich dann bin. Sie sollen mich in meiner Herrlichkeit sehen, die du mir geschenkt hast. Denn du hast mich schon geliebt, bevor die Welt erschaffen wurde.	Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world.
25	Gerechter Vater, diese Welt hat dich nicht erkannt. Aber ich habe dich erkannt, und diese haben erkannt, dass du mich gesandt hast.	O righteous Father, the world hath not known thee: but I have known thee, and these have known that thou hast sent me.
26	Ich habe dich bei ihnen bekannt gemacht und werde es weiter tun. Dann bleibt die Liebe, mit der du mich geliebt hast, auch bei ihnen. Und so bleibe ich mit ihnen verbunden.«	And I have declared unto them thy name, and will declare it: that the love wherewith thou hast loved me may be in them, and I in them.
