1	Die Königsherrschaft der Atalja und König Joasch / Südreich Juda: Atalja Als Atalja, die Mutter von Ahasja, erfuhr, dass ihr Sohn tot war, ließ sie die ganze königliche Familie hinrichten.	And when Athaliah the mother of Ahaziah saw that her son was dead, she arose and destroyed all the seed royal.
2	Nur Prinz Joasch, der Sohn des Ahasja, überlebte. Denn seine Tante Joscheba rettete ihn, die Tochter des Königs Joram und Schwester Ahasjas. Sie holte ihn aus der Gruppe der Prinzen heraus, die getötet werden sollten. Dann brachte sie ihn in ein Schlafzimmer, wo sie den Säugling vor Atalja versteckte. Seine Amme war bei ihm.	But Jehosheba, the daughter of king Joram, sister of Ahaziah, took Joash the son of Ahaziah, and stole him from among the king’s sons which were slain; and they hid him, even him and his nurse, in the bedchamber from Athaliah, so that he was not slain.
3	Danach hielt sich Joasch sechs Jahre lang verborgen und blieb im Tempel des Herrn. Währenddessen herrschte Atalja über das Land.	And he was with her hid in the house of the Lord six years. And Athaliah did reign over the land.
4	Jojada war der führende Priester am Tempel des Herrn. Im siebten Jahr bereitete er den Umsturz vor: Er rief die Offiziere zu sich, die den Befehl über Palastwache und Leibwache hatten. Jeder von ihnen befehligte 100 Mann. Sie kamen zu ihm in den Tempel des Herrn. Dort traf er mit ihnen ein Abkommen und ließ sie im Tempel des Herrn einen Eid schwören. Dann zeigte er ihnen den Sohn des Königs	And the seventh year Jehoiada sent and fetched the rulers over hundreds, with the captains and the guard, and brought them to him into the house of the Lord, and made a covenant with them, and took an oath of them in the house of the Lord, and shewed them the king’s son.
5	und ordnete an: »Das ist es, was ihr tun sollt: Die Abteilung, die am Sabbat den Dienst antritt, soll die Zugänge zum Tempel sichern. Ein Drittel der Abteilung soll den Palast bewachen.	And he commanded them, saying, This is the thing that ye shall do; A third part of you that enter in on the sabbath shall even be keepers of the watch of the king’s house;
6	Das andere Drittel soll am Pferdetor Wache halten, das letzte Drittel am Tor hinter dem Haus der Leibwache. So ist der Tempel von allen Seiten geschützt.	And a third part shall be at the gate of Sur; and a third part at the gate behind the guard: so shall ye keep the watch of the house, that it be not broken down.
7	Die zwei anderen Abteilungen, die am Sabbat ihren Dienst beenden, sollen in den Tempel des Herrn gehen. Dort sollen sie sich als Wache um den König aufstellen.	And two parts of all you that go forth on the sabbath, even they shall keep the watch of the house of the Lord about the king.
8	Bildet einen Kreis um den König, mit der Waffe in der Hand. Wer sich dem Kreis nähert, wird getötet. Begleitet den König auf Schritt und Tritt!«	And ye shall compass the king round about, every man with his weapons in his hand: and he that cometh within the ranges, let him be slain: and be ye with the king as he goeth out and as he cometh in.
9	Die Offiziere, die den Befehl über 100 Männer hatten, befolgten alles, was der Priester Jojada geboten hatte. Jeder rief seine Männer zusammen: die Männer, die am Sabbat den Dienst antraten, und die anderen, die ihren Dienst beendeten. So kamen sie zum Priester Jojada.	And the captains over the hundreds did according to all things that Jehoiada the priest commanded: and they took every man his men that were to come in on the sabbath, with them that should go out on the sabbath, and came to Jehoiada the priest.
10	Der übergab ihnen die Lanzen und Schilde König Davids, die im Tempel des Herrn aufbewahrt wurden.	And to the captains over hundreds did the priest give king David’s spears and shields, that were in the temple of the Lord.
11	Die Leibwache stellte sich im Tempel auf, mit der Waffe in der Hand. Sie bildeten einen Halbkreis um den König, von der Südseite bis zur Nordseite, am Altar vorbei.	And the guard stood, every man with his weapons in his hand, round about the king, from the right corner of the temple to the left corner of the temple, along by the altar and the temple.
12	Dann führte Jojada den Sohn des Königs heraus, setzte ihm die Krone auf und gab ihm die Urkunde. So machten sie ihn zum König, salbten ihn, klatschten in die Hände und riefen: »Es lebe der König!«	And he brought forth the king’s son, and put the crown upon him, and gave him the testimony; and they made him king, and anointed him; and they clapped their hands, and said, God save the king.
13	Als Atalja den Jubel der Wache und des Volkes hörte, kam auch sie zum Tempel des Herrn.	And when Athaliah heard the noise of the guard and of the people, she came to the people into the temple of the Lord.
14	Da sah sie den König! Er stand an der Säule, wie es Brauch war. Der König war umgeben von den obersten Beamten und den Trompetenspielern. Das ganze Volk vom Land war fröhlich, und die Trompeten erklangen. Daraufhin zerriss Atalja ihre Kleider und schrie: »Verrat! Verrat!«	And when she looked, behold, the king stood by a pillar, as the manner was, and the princes and the trumpeters by the king, and all the people of the land rejoiced, and blew with trumpets: and Athaliah rent her clothes, and cried, Treason, Treason.
15	Doch der Priester Jojada befahl den Offizieren, die den Befehl über 100 Männer hatten und das Heer anführten: »Führt sie durch die Reihen hinaus! Wer ihr folgt, den tötet mit dem Schwert.« Denn der Priester legte Wert darauf, dass sie nicht im Tempel des Herrn getötet wurde.	But Jehoiada the priest commanded the captains of the hundreds, the officers of the host, and said unto them, Have her forth without the ranges: and him that followeth her kill with the sword. For the priest had said, Let her not be slain in the house of the Lord.
16	Also ergriffen sie Atalja und brachten sie hinaus. Sie töteten sie auf dem Weg, auf dem sonst die Pferde zum Palast geführt werden.	And they laid hands on her; and she went by the way by the which the horses came into the king’s house: and there was she slain.
17	Dann schloss Jojada einen Bund zwischen dem Herrn, dem König und dem Volk: Sie sollten das Volk des Herrn sein. Auch König und Volk schlossen ein Bündnis.	And Jehoiada made a covenant between the Lord and the king and the people, that they should be the Lord’s people; between the king also and the people.
18	Da gingen alle Männer zum Tempel des Baal und zerstörten dort alles: Sie rissen die Altäre nieder und zerstörten die Götterbilder. Sie erschlugen Mattan, den Priester des Baal, direkt vor den Altären. Gleichzeitig stellte der Priester Jojada Wachen auf am Tempel des Herrn.	And all the people of the land went into the house of Baal, and brake it down; his altars and his images brake they in pieces thoroughly, and slew Mattan the priest of Baal before the altars. And the priest appointed officers over the house of the Lord.
19	Dann rief er die Offiziere zu sich, die den Befehl über 100 Männer hatten. Er rief die Palastwache und Leibwache herbei und dazu noch die angesehenen Männer vom Land. Alle zusammen führten sie den König zum Palast. Dabei nahmen sie den Weg vom Tempel des Herrn durch das Tor der Leibwache. Im Palast setzte sich Joasch auf den Königsthron.	And he took the rulers over hundreds, and the captains, and the guard, and all the people of the land; and they brought down the king from the house of the Lord, and came by the way of the gate of the guard to the king’s house. And he sat on the throne of the kings.
20	Alle angesehenen Männer vom Land freuten sich, die Stadt blieb ruhig. Atalja aber hatten sie beim Palast getötet, sie hatten sie mit einem Schwert hingerichtet.	And all the people of the land rejoiced, and the city was in quiet: and they slew Athaliah with the sword beside the king’s house.
21	—	Seven years old was Jehoash when he began to reign.
