1	Die Eroberung des Landes Kanaan / Die Vorbereitungen zur Eroberung / Gott beauftragt Josua Mose, der Knecht des Herrn, war gestorben. Ihm hatte Josua, der Sohn des Nun, gedient. Da sagte der Herr zu Josua:	Now after the death of Moses the servant of the Lord it came to pass, that the Lord spake unto Joshua the son of Nun, Moses’ minister, saying,
2	»Mein Knecht Mose ist tot. Jetzt mach dich auf und überquere den Jordan! Zieh mit dem ganzen Volk in das Land, das ich ihnen, den Israeliten, geben will.	Moses my servant is dead; now therefore arise, go over this Jordan, thou, and all this people, unto the land which I do give to them, even to the children of Israel.
3	Ich gebe euch jeden Ort zum Besitz, den ihr mit euren Füßen betretet. So habe ich es Mose versprochen.	Every place that the sole of your foot shall tread upon, that have I given unto you, as I said unto Moses.
4	Und so weit soll euer Gebiet reichen: von der Wüste bis zum Libanongebirge, vom großen Fluss Eufrat mit dem Land der Hetiter bis zum großen Meer im Westen.	From the wilderness and this Lebanon even unto the great river, the river Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites, and unto the great sea toward the going down of the sun, shall be your coast.
5	Niemand kann sich dir entgegenstellen, solange du lebst. Ich werde mit dir sein, wie ich es mit Mose gewesen bin. Ich lasse dich nicht fallen und lasse dich nicht im Stich.	There shall not any man be able to stand before thee all the days of thy life: as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee: I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.
6	Sei stark und mutig! Du wirst diesem Volk das Land zum Erbbesitz geben. Denn ich habe ihren Vorfahren geschworen, dass ich es ihnen geben werde.	Be strong and of a good courage: for unto this people shalt thou divide for an inheritance the land, which I sware unto their fathers to give them.
7	Sei nur ganz stark und mutig! Gib acht, dass du ganz nach der Weisung handelst, die dir mein Knecht Mose gegeben hat! Du sollst davon nicht abweichen, weder nach rechts noch nach links. So hast du Erfolg bei allem, was du unternimmst.	Only be thou strong and very courageous, that thou mayest observe to do according to all the law, which Moses my servant commanded thee: turn not from it to the right hand or to the left, that thou mayest prosper whithersoever thou goest.
8	Hör nicht auf, in dem Gesetzbuch zu lesen, und denk Tag und Nacht darüber nach. So weißt du, worauf du achtgeben musst. So kannst du dein ganzes Tun danach richten, wie es darin geschrieben steht. Dann wird dir alles gelingen, was du unternimmst. Dann hast du Erfolg.	This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.
9	Ich habe dir doch gesagt, dass du stark und mutig sein sollst! Fürchte dich nicht und schrecke vor nichts zurück! Denn der Herr, dein Gott, ist mit dir bei allem, was du unternimmst!«	Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.
10	Josua bereitet den Einzug in das Land vor Josua befahl den Schreibern des Heeres:	Then Joshua commanded the officers of the people, saying,
11	»Geht mitten durch das Heerlager und gebt den Befehl an das Kriegsvolk weiter: Packt euch etwas zu essen ein! Denn in drei Tagen überquert ihr den Jordan. Dann werdet ihr in das Land einziehen, um es in Besitz zu nehmen. Der Herr, euer Gott, gibt es euch zum Besitz.«	Pass through the host, and command the people, saying, Prepare you victuals; for within three days ye shall pass over this Jordan, to go in to possess the land, which the Lord your God giveth you to possess it.
12	Die ostjordanischen Stämme unterstützen Josua Weiter sagte Josua zu den Stämmen Ruben und Gad und zu dem halben Stamm Manasse:	And to the Reubenites, and to the Gadites, and to half the tribe of Manasseh, spake Joshua, saying,
13	»Denkt an das, was euch Mose, der Knecht des Herrn, gesagt hat: Der Herr, euer Gott, wird dafür sorgen, dass ihr in diesem Land in Ruhe leben könnt. Denn er hat es euch gegeben.	Remember the word which Moses the servant of the Lord commanded you, saying, The Lord your God hath given you rest, and hath given you this land.
14	Eure Frauen, eure Kinder und euer Vieh dürfen in dem Land östlich des Jordan bleiben. Mose hat es euch zugeteilt. Doch jetzt sollt ihr bewaffnet über den Jordan ziehen, an der Spitze eurer Brüder. Unterstützt sie mit allen kriegstüchtigen Männern,	Your wives, your little ones, and your cattle, shall remain in the land which Moses gave you on this side Jordan; but ye shall pass before your brethren armed, all the mighty men of valour, and help them;
15	bis der Herr euren Brüdern Ruhe verschafft. Ihr habt ja schon euer Land bekommen. Auch sie sollen jetzt das Land in Besitz nehmen, das der Herr, euer Gott, ihnen gibt. Dann dürft ihr in euer eigenes Land zurückkehren und es in Besitz nehmen. Mose, der Knecht des Herrn, hat es euch zugeteilt auf der anderen Seite des Jordan im Osten.«	Until the Lord have given your brethren rest, as he hath given you, and they also have possessed the land which the Lord your God giveth them: then ye shall return unto the land of your possession, and enjoy it, which Moses the Lord’s servant gave you on this side Jordan toward the sunrising.
16	Da gaben sie Josua zur Antwort: »Alles, was du befiehlst, wollen wir tun! Schick uns, wohin du willst! Wir werden gehen.	And they answered Joshua, saying, All that thou commandest us we will do, and whithersoever thou sendest us, we will go.
17	Ja, wir gehorchen dir in allem, so wie wir Mose gehorcht haben. Wenn nur der Herr, dein Gott, mit dir ist, wie er es mit Mose gewesen ist!	According as we hearkened unto Moses in all things, so will we hearken unto thee: only the Lord thy God be with thee, as he was with Moses.
18	Wer sich aber deinem Befehl widersetzt und dir nicht folgt in allem, was du anordnest, soll sterben. Sei nur stark und mutig!«	Whosoever he be that doth rebel against thy commandment, and will not hearken unto thy words in all that thou commandest him, he shall be put to death: only be strong and of a good courage.
