1	Gott ist meine Stärke FÜR DEN CHORLEITER, NACH DER MELODIE: ZERSTÖRE NICHT! EINE INSCHRIFT, VON DAVID, ALS SAUL SEINE SOLDATEN SCHICKTE. SIE SOLLTEN DAS HAUS BEWACHEN UND DAVID TÖTEN.	Deliver me from mine enemies, O my God: defend me from them that rise up against me.
2	Rette mich vor meinen Feinden, mein Gott, beschütze mich, wenn sie mich angreifen!	Deliver me from the workers of iniquity, and save me from bloody men.
3	Rette mich vor denen, die Unheil anrichten, hilf mir doch, wenn Menschen nach Blut dürsten!	For, lo, they lie in wait for my soul: the mighty are gathered against me; not for my transgression, nor for my sin, O Lord.
4	Sieh her, sie haben mir eine Falle gestellt. Sie sind stark genug, um über mich herzufallen. Doch ich habe nichts Unrechtes getan, Herr, man kann mir kein Vergehen vorwerfen.	They run and prepare themselves without my fault: awake to help me, and behold.
5	Obwohl ich unschuldig bin, kommen sie angelaufen und stellen sich auf. Wach auf, komm mir zu Hilfe und sieh!	Thou therefore, O Lord God of hosts, the God of Israel, awake to visit all the heathen: be not merciful to any wicked transgressors. Selah.
6	Du, Herr, Gott der himmlischen Heere, du bist doch der Gott Israels, wach auf! Zieh alle Völker zur Verantwortung! Verschone keinen dieser Übeltäter! Sela.	They return at evening: they make a noise like a dog, and go round about the city.
7	Abend für Abend kommen sie wieder, kläffen wie Hunde und streunen durch die Stadt.	Behold, they belch out with their mouth: swords are in their lips: for who, say they, doth hear?
8	Sieh her, böse Worte spucken sie aus. Sie führen sie wie Schwerter auf ihren Lippen. Denn sie denken: »Wer merkt es schon?«	But thou, O Lord, shalt laugh at them; thou shalt have all the heathen in derision.
9	Aber du, Herr, du lachst über sie. Du spottest über alle Völker.	Because of his strength will I wait upon thee: for God is my defence.
10	Meine Stärke, an dich will ich mich halten! Ja, Gott ist meine feste Burg!	The God of my mercy shall prevent me: God shall let me see my desire upon mine enemies.
11	Mein Gott kommt mir voll Güte entgegen. Gott lässt mich auf meine Feinde herabsehen.	Slay them not, lest my people forget: scatter them by thy power; and bring them down, O Lord our shield.
12	Doch du sollst sie nicht töten! Sonst könnte mein Volk dies vergessen. Zerstreue sie durch dein Heer und wirf sie nieder! Du bist doch unser Schild, mein Herr!	For the sin of their mouth and the words of their lips let them even be taken in their pride: and for cursing and lying which they speak.
13	Wenn sie den Mund auftun, begehen sie eine Sünde, mit jedem Wort, das über ihre Lippen kommt. Darum sollen sie in ihrem Hochmut gefangen sein. Denn sie verbreiten nichts als Fluch und Lüge.	Consume them in wrath, consume them, that they may not be: and let them know that God ruleth in Jacob unto the ends of the earth. Selah.
14	Vernichte sie in deinem Zorn! Vernichte sie, dass sie nicht mehr da sind! Daran wird man erkennen, dass Gott über die Nachkommen Jakobs herrscht. Bis ans Ende der Welt reicht seine Macht. Sela.	And at evening let them return; and let them make a noise like a dog, and go round about the city.
15	Abend für Abend kommen sie wieder, kläffen wie Hunde und streunen durch die Stadt.	Let them wander up and down for meat, and grudge if they be not satisfied.
16	Sie treiben sich herum, um zu fressen! Werden sie nicht satt, bleiben sie über Nacht.	But I will sing of thy power; yea, I will sing aloud of thy mercy in the morning: for thou hast been my defence and refuge in the day of my trouble.
17	Ich aber will ein Lied singen über deine Stärke! Am Morgen will ich jubeln über deine Güte! Denn du bist für mich eine feste Burg, ein Zufluchtsort am Tag meiner Not.	Unto thee, O my strength, will I sing: for God is my defence, and the God of my mercy.
18	Meine Stärke, dir will ich ein Lied spielen! Ja, Gott ist meine feste Burg, mein guter Gott!	—
