1	Gebet für den König FÜR DEN CHORLEITER. EIN PSALM, VON DAVID.	The king shall joy in thy strength, O Lord; and in thy salvation how greatly shall he rejoice!
2	Herr, über deine Macht freut sich der König. Wie fröhlich jubelt er über deinen Sieg.	Thou hast given him his heart’s desire, and hast not withholden the request of his lips. Selah.
3	Seinen Herzenswunsch hast du ihm erfüllt. Die Bitte, die über seine Lippen kam, hast du ihm nicht abgeschlagen. Sela.	For thou preventest him with the blessings of goodness: thou settest a crown of pure gold on his head.
4	Ja, du hast ihn mit Segensgaben überhäuft. Die goldene Krone hast du ihm aufgesetzt.	He asked life of thee, and thou gavest it him, even length of days for ever and ever.
5	Um Lebenszeit hat er dich gebeten. Du hast ihm ein langes Leben geschenkt – glückliche Jahre für immer und alle Zeit.	His glory is great in thy salvation: honour and majesty hast thou laid upon him.
6	Groß ist sein Ansehen durch deinen Sieg. Machtvollen Glanz verleihst du ihm.	For thou hast made him most blessed for ever: thou hast made him exceeding glad with thy countenance.
7	Ja, du setzt ihn zum Herrscher ein, damit er für immer segensreich wirkt. Mit Freude erfüllt ihn deine Gegenwart.	For the king trusteth in the Lord, and through the mercy of the most High he shall not be moved.
8	Ja, der König vertraut auf den Herrn! Er baut auf die Güte des Höchsten und kommt nicht zu Fall.	Thine hand shall find out all thine enemies: thy right hand shall find out those that hate thee.
9	Deine Macht soll alle deine Feinde treffen. Und die dich hassen, strafe mit starker Hand.	Thou shalt make them as a fiery oven in the time of thine anger: the Lord shall swallow them up in his wrath, and the fire shall devour them.
10	Lass sie brennen wie in einem Ofen, wenn du zum Gericht erscheinst. In seinem Zorn wird der Herr sie vernichten, und Feuer wird sie ganz verzehren.	Their fruit shalt thou destroy from the earth, and their seed from among the children of men.
11	Vertilge ihre Nachkommen von der Erde und ihre Kinder aus der Menschenwelt.	For they intended evil against thee: they imagined a mischievous device, which they are not able to perform.
12	Ja, Unheil wollten sie über dich bringen. Sie schmiedeten Pläne – doch ohne Erfolg.	Therefore shalt thou make them turn their back, when thou shalt make ready thine arrows upon thy strings against the face of them.
13	Ja, mit dem Rücken zu dir laufen sie davon, sobald du deinen Bogen auf sie richtest.	Be thou exalted, Lord, in thine own strength: so will we sing and praise thy power.
14	Erhebe dich, Herr, zeig deine Macht! Dann wollen wir singen und deine Stärke preisen.	—
