1	sprach der Herr mit Mose. Er sagte zu ihm und zu Eleasar, dem Sohn des Priesters Aaron:	And it came to pass after the plague, that the Lord spake unto Moses and unto Eleazar the son of Aaron the priest, saying,
2	»Zählt die ganze Gemeinde Israels! Erfasst alle kriegstüchtigen Männer in Israel, die zwanzig Jahre alt oder älter sind! Ordnet sie nach ihren Großfamilien.«	Take the sum of all the congregation of the children of Israel, from twenty years old and upward, throughout their fathers’ house, all that are able to go to war in Israel.
3	Also redeten Mose und der Priester Eleasar mit den Israeliten am Jordan, gegenüber von Jericho.	And Moses and Eleazar the priest spake with them in the plains of Moab by Jordan near Jericho, saying,
4	In den Steppen von Moab musterten sie die Männer, die 20 Jahre alt oder älter waren. Sie handelten, wie der Herr es Mose befohlen hatte. Dies sind die Nachkommen Israels, die aus Ägypten gekommen waren:	Take the sum of the people, from twenty years old and upward; as the Lord commanded Moses and the children of Israel, which went forth out of the land of Egypt.
5	Die Namenslisten Ruben ist der erstgeborene Sohn von Israel. Dies sind die Nachkommen von Ruben: Von Henoch stammt die Familie der Henochiter, von Pallu stammen die Palluiter.	Reuben, the eldest son of Israel: the children of Reuben; Hanoch, of whom cometh the family of the Hanochites: of Pallu, the family of the Palluites:
6	Von Hezron stammt die Familie der Hezroniter, von Karmi die Karmiter.	Of Hezron, the family of the Hezronites: of Carmi, the family of the Carmites.
7	Die Zahl der Rubeniter betrug 43.730 Mann.	These are the families of the Reubenites: and they that were numbered of them were forty and three thousand and seven hundred and thirty.
8	Der Sohn von Pallu hieß Eliab,	And the sons of Pallu; Eliab.
9	und die Söhne von Eliab waren Nemuel, Datan und Abiram. Datan und Abiram waren unter den Anhängern Korachs, als diese gegen den Herrn kämpften. Datan und Abiram hatten die Gemeinde vertreten und sich gegen Mose und Aaron gestellt.	And the sons of Eliab; Nemuel, and Dathan, and Abiram. This is that Dathan and Abiram, which were famous in the congregation, who strove against Moses and against Aaron in the company of Korah, when they strove against the Lord:
10	Daraufhin hatte die Erde ihren Rachen geöffnet und verschlang Datan, Abiram und mit ihnen Korach. Als sie und ihre Anhänger starben und das Feuer die 250 Männer fraß, wurden sie zum warnenden Beispiel.	And the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed them up together with Korah, when that company died, what time the fire devoured two hundred and fifty men: and they became a sign.
11	Die Nachkommen des Korach aber starben nicht.	Notwithstanding the children of Korah died not.
12	Dies sind die Nachkommen von Simeon, geordnet nach ihren Großfamilien: Von Nemuel stammt die Familie der Nemueliter ab, von Jamin die der Jaminiter, von Jachin die der Jachiniter	The sons of Simeon after their families: of Nemuel, the family of the Nemuelites: of Jamin, the family of the Jaminites: of Jachin, the family of the Jachinites:
13	und von Serach die der Serachiter. Von Schaul stammt die Familie der Schauliter.	Of Zerah, the family of the Zarhites: of Shaul, the family of the Shaulites.
14	Bei den Simeonitern gab es 22.200 Mann.	These are the families of the Simeonites, twenty and two thousand and two hundred.
15	Dies sind die Nachkommen von Gad, geordnet nach ihren Großfamilien: Von Zifjon stammt die Familie der Zifjoniter. Von Haggi stammen die Haggiter, von Schuni die Schuniter,	The children of Gad after their families: of Zephon, the family of the Zephonites: of Haggi, the family of the Haggites: of Shuni, the family of the Shunites:
16	von Osni die Osniter. Von Eri stammt die Familie der Eriter,	Of Ozni, the family of the Oznites: of Eri, the family of the Erites:
17	von Arod stammen die Aroditer. Von Areli stammt die Familie der Areliter.	Of Arod, the family of the Arodites: of Areli, the family of the Arelites.
18	Bei den Nachkommen von Gad gab es 40.500 Mann.	These are the families of the children of Gad according to those that were numbered of them, forty thousand and five hundred.
19	Die Söhne von Juda hießen Er und Onan. Sie starben aber bereits im Land Kanaan.	The sons of Judah were Er and Onan: and Er and Onan died in the land of Canaan.
20	Dies sind die Nachkommen von Juda, geordnet nach ihren Großfamilien: Von Schela stammt die Familie der Schelaniter, von Perez die der Pereziter und von Serach die der Serachiter.	And the sons of Judah after their families were; of Shelah, the family of the Shelanites: of Pharez, the family of the Pharzites: of Zerah, the family of the Zarhites.
21	Von Perez zweigten weitere Familien ab: Von Hezron stammt die Familie der Hezroniter, von Hamul die Familie der Hamuliter.	And the sons of Pharez were; of Hezron, the family of the Hezronites: of Hamul, the family of the Hamulites.
22	Aus den Familien von Juda kamen 76.500 Mann.	These are the families of Judah according to those that were numbered of them, threescore and sixteen thousand and five hundred.
23	Dies sind die Nachkommen von Issachar, geordnet nach ihren Großfamilien: Von Tola stammt die Familie der Tolaiter, von Puwa die Familie der Puwaniter.	Of the sons of Issachar after their families: of Tola, the family of the Tolaites: of Pua, the family of the Punites:
24	Von Jaschub stammt die Familie der Jaschubiter, von Schimron die Familie der Schimroniter.	Of Jashub, the family of the Jashubites: of Shimron, the family of the Shimronites.
25	Aus den Familien von Issachar kamen 64.300 Mann.	These are the families of Issachar according to those that were numbered of them, threescore and four thousand and three hundred.
26	Dies sind die Nachkommen von Sebulon, geordnet nach ihren Großfamilien: Von Sered stammt die Familie der Serediter, von Elon die der Eloniter, von Jachleel die der Jachleeliter.	Of the sons of Zebulun after their families: of Sered, the family of the Sardites: of Elon, the family of the Elonites: of Jahleel, the family of the Jahleelites.
27	Bei den Sebulonitern gab es 60.500 Mann.	These are the families of the Zebulunites according to those that were numbered of them, threescore thousand and five hundred.
28	Die Söhne von Josef waren Efraim und Manasse.	The sons of Joseph after their families were Manasseh and Ephraim.
29	Dies sind die Nachkommen von Manasse, geordnet nach ihren Großfamilien: Von Machir stammt die Familie der Machiriter. Machir war der Vater von Gilead, und von Gilead stammt die Familie der Gileaditer.	Of the sons of Manasseh: of Machir, the family of the Machirites: and Machir begat Gilead: of Gilead come the family of the Gileadites.
30	Und dies sind nun die Nachkommen Gileads: Von Ieser stammt die Familie der Ieseriter und von Helek die Familie der Helekiter.	These are the sons of Gilead: of Jeezer, the family of the Jeezerites: of Helek, the family of the Helekites:
31	Von Asriel stammen die Asrieliter, von Schechem die Schechemiter	And of Asriel, the family of the Asrielites: and of Shechem, the family of the Shechemites:
32	und von Schemida die Schemidaiter. Von Hefer schließlich stammen die Heferiter.	And of Shemida, the family of the Shemidaites: and of Hepher, the family of the Hepherites.
33	Zelofhad, der Sohn von Hefer, hatte keine Söhne. Er hatte aber Töchter. Sie hießen Machla, Noa, Hogla, Milka und Tirza.	And Zelophehad the son of Hepher had no sons, but daughters: and the names of the daughters of Zelophehad were Mahlah, and Noah, Hoglah, Milcah, and Tirzah.
34	Aus den Familien von Manasse kamen 52.700 Mann.	These are the families of Manasseh, and those that were numbered of them, fifty and two thousand and seven hundred.
35	Dies nun sind die Nachkommen von Efraim, geordnet nach ihren Großfamilien: Von Schutelach stammt die Familie der Schutelachiter, von Becher die der Becheriter und von Tahan die der Tahaniter.	These are the sons of Ephraim after their families: of Shuthelah, the family of the Shuthalhites: of Becher, the family of the Bachrites: of Tahan, the family of the Tahanites.
36	Von Schutelach zweigte eine weitere Familie ab: Von Eran stammen die Eraniter.	And these are the sons of Shuthelah: of Eran, the family of the Eranites.
37	Bei den Nachkommen von Efraim gab es 32.500 Mann. Das waren die Nachkommen von Josef.	These are the families of the sons of Ephraim according to those that were numbered of them, thirty and two thousand and five hundred. These are the sons of Joseph after their families.
38	Dies sind die Nachkommen von Benjamin, geordnet nach ihren Großfamilien: Von Bela stammt die Familie der Belaiter, von Aschbel die Familie der Aschbeliter. Von Ahiram stammt die Familie der Ahiramiter,	The sons of Benjamin after their families: of Bela, the family of the Belaites: of Ashbel, the family of the Ashbelites: of Ahiram, the family of the Ahiramites:
39	von Schufam stammen die Schufamiter, von Hufam die Hufamiter.	Of Shupham, the family of the Shuphamites: of Hupham, the family of the Huphamites.
40	Die Söhne von Bela hießen Ard und Naaman. Von Ard stammen die Arditer ab. Von Naaman stammt die Familie der Naamaniter ab.	And the sons of Bela were Ard and Naaman: of Ard, the family of the Ardites: and of Naaman, the family of the Naamites.
41	Bei den Nachkommen von Benjamin gab es 45.600 Mann.	These are the sons of Benjamin after their families: and they that were numbered of them were forty and five thousand and six hundred.
42	Dies sind die Nachkommen von Dan, geordnet nach ihren Großfamilien: Von Schuham stammt die Familie der Schuhamiter. Das sind die Familien in Dan, geordnet nach Großfamilien.	These are the sons of Dan after their families: of Shuham, the family of the Shuhamites. These are the families of Dan after their families.
43	Aus den Familien der Schuhamiter kamen 64.400 Mann.	All the families of the Shuhamites, according to those that were numbered of them, were threescore and four thousand and four hundred.
44	Dies sind die Nachkommen von Ascher, geordnet nach ihren Großfamilien: Von Jimna stammt die Familie der Jimnaiter, von Jischwi stammen die Jischwiter und von Beria die Beriaiter.	Of the children of Asher after their families: of Jimna, the family of the Jimnites: of Jesui, the family of the Jesuites: of Beriah, the family of the Beriites.
45	Von Beria zweigten weitere Familien ab: Von Heber stammt die Familie der Heberiter und von Malkiel die Familie der Malkieliter.	Of the sons of Beriah: of Heber, the family of the Heberites: of Malchiel, the family of the Malchielites.
46	Die Tochter von Ascher hieß Serach.	And the name of the daughter of Asher was Sarah.
47	Aus den Familien von Ascher kamen 53.400 Mann.	These are the families of the sons of Asher according to those that were numbered of them; who were fifty and three thousand and four hundred.
48	Dies sind die Nachkommen von Naftali, geordnet nach ihren Großfamilien: Von Jachzeel stammt die Familie der Jachzeeliter, von Guni die der Guniter,	Of the sons of Naphtali after their families: of Jahzeel, the family of the Jahzeelites: of Guni, the family of the Gunites:
49	von Jezer die der Jezeriter und von Schillem die der Schillemiter.	Of Jezer, the family of the Jezerites: of Shillem, the family of the Shillemites.
50	Aus den Familien von Naftali kamen 45.400 Mann.	These are the families of Naphtali according to their families: and they that were numbered of them were forty and five thousand and four hundred.
51	Insgesamt wurden 601.730 Israeliten gemustert.	These were the numbered of the children of Israel, six hundred thousand and a thousand seven hundred and thirty.
52	Die Verteilung des Landes Der Herr sagte zu Mose:	And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,
53	»Das Land soll unter den Israeliten verteilt werden, die gemustert worden sind. Sie erhalten ihren Erbbesitz nach der Anzahl der Stammesmitglieder,	Unto these the land shall be divided for an inheritance according to the number of names.
54	und zwar nach der Zahl der kriegstüchtigen Männer. Einem großen Stamm sollst du großen Erbbesitz zuteilen und einem kleinen Stamm einen kleinen Besitz.	To many thou shalt give the more inheritance, and to few thou shalt give the less inheritance: to every one shall his inheritance be given according to those that were numbered of him.
55	Das Land soll durch das Los so aufgeteilt werden, dass es der Größe der Stämme entspricht.	Notwithstanding the land shall be divided by lot: according to the names of the tribes of their fathers they shall inherit.
56	Der Erbbesitz wird durch Losentscheid verteilt zwischen den größeren und kleineren Stämmen.«	According to the lot shall the possession thereof be divided between many and few.
57	Die Namensliste der Nachkommen von Levi Dies sind die Nachkommen von Levi, geordnet nach ihren Großfamilien: Von Gerschon stammt die Familie der Gerschoniter ab, von Kehat die der Kehatiter und von Merari die der Merariter.	And these are they that were numbered of the Levites after their families: of Gershon, the family of the Gershonites: of Kohath, the family of the Kohathites: of Merari, the family of the Merarites.
58	Die Libniter, Hebroniter, Machliter, Muschiter und Korachiter stammten von diesen Familien ab. Das sind die Familien im Stamm Levi. Kehat war der Vater von Amram.	These are the families of the Levites: the family of the Libnites, the family of the Hebronites, the family of the Mahlites, the family of the Mushites, the family of the Korathites. And Kohath begat Amram.
59	Die Frau von Amram hieß Jochebed, Tochter des Levi, und sie wurde in Ägypten geboren. Sie selbst schenkte Amram die Söhne Aaron und Mose und deren Schwester Mirjam.	And the name of Amram’s wife was Jochebed, the daughter of Levi, whom her mother bare to Levi in Egypt: and she bare unto Amram Aaron and Moses, and Miriam their sister.
60	Aaron wurde dann Vater von Nadab, Abihu, Eleasar und Itamar.	And unto Aaron was born Nadab, and Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar.
61	Nadab und Abihu starben, als sie dem Herrn ein falsches Opfer darbrachten.	And Nadab and Abihu died, when they offered strange fire before the Lord.
62	Die Zahl der Leviten betrug 23.000. Alle Männer von einem Monat und älter wurden erfasst. Sie wurden bei den Israeliten nicht mitgezählt, denn sie erhielten keinen Erbbesitz bei den Israeliten.	And those that were numbered of them were twenty and three thousand, all males from a month old and upward: for they were not numbered among the children of Israel, because there was no inheritance given them among the children of Israel.
63	Abschluss der Musterung So musterten Mose und der Priester Eleasar die Israeliten in den Steppen von Moab. Das geschah am Jordan, in der Nähe von Jericho.	These are they that were numbered by Moses and Eleazar the priest, who numbered the children of Israel in the plains of Moab by Jordan near Jericho.
64	Zuvor hatten Mose und Aaron die Israeliten in der Wüste Sinai gezählt. Von denen, die damals gezählt worden waren, lebte aber niemand mehr.	But among these there was not a man of them whom Moses and Aaron the priest numbered, when they numbered the children of Israel in the wilderness of Sinai.
65	Der Herr hatte nämlich zu ihnen gesagt: »Ihr müsst auf jeden Fall in der Wüste sterben!« Nur Kaleb, der Sohn des Jefunne, und Josua, der Sohn des Nun, waren noch am Leben.	For the Lord had said of them, They shall surely die in the wilderness. And there was not left a man of them, save Caleb the son of Jephunneh, and Joshua the son of Nun.
