|---|---|---|
O God, do not keep quiet: let your lips be open and take no rest, O God. | Keep not thou silence, O God: hold not thy peace, and be not still, O God.
For see! those who make war on you are out of control; your haters are lifting up their heads. | For, lo, thine enemies make a tumult: and they that hate thee have lifted up the head.
They have made wise designs against your people, talking together against those whom you keep in a secret place. | They have taken crafty counsel against thy people, and consulted against thy hidden ones.
They have said, Come, let us put an end to them as a nation; so that the name of Israel may go out of man's memory. | They have said, Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation; that the name of Israel may be no more in remembrance.
For they have all come to an agreement; they are all joined together against you: | For they have consulted together with one consent: they are confederate against thee:
The tents of Edom and the Ishmaelites; Moab and the Hagarites; | The tabernacles of Edom, and the Ishmaelites; of Moab, and the Hagarenes;
Gebal and Ammon and Amalek; the Philistines and the people of Tyre; | Gebal, and Ammon, and Amalek; the Philistines with the inhabitants of Tyre;
Assur is joined with them; they have become the support of the children of Lot. (Selah.) | Assur also is joined with them: they have holpen the children of Lot. Selah.
Do to them what you did to the Midianites; what you did to Sisera and Jabin, at the stream of Kishon: | Do unto them as unto the Midianites; as to Sisera, as to Jabin, at the brook of Kison:
Who came to destruction at En-dor; their bodies became dust and waste. | Which perished at En–dor: they became as dung for the earth.
Make their chiefs like Oreb and Zeeb; and all their rulers like Zebah and Zalmunna: | Make their nobles like Oreb, and like Zeeb: yea, all their princes as Zebah, and as Zalmunna:
Who have said, Let us take for our heritage the resting-place of God. | Who said, Let us take to ourselves the houses of God in possession.
O my God, make them like the rolling dust; like dry stems before the wind. | O my God, make them like a wheel; as the stubble before the wind.
As fire burning a wood, and as a flame causing fire on the mountains, | As the fire burneth a wood, and as the flame setteth the mountains on fire;
So go after them with your strong wind, and let them be full of fear because of your storm. | So persecute them with thy tempest, and make them afraid with thy storm.
Let their faces be full of shame; so that they may give honour to your name, O Lord. | Fill their faces with shame; that they may seek thy name, O Lord.
Let them be overcome and troubled for ever; let them be put to shame and come to destruction; | Let them be confounded and troubled for ever; yea, let them be put to shame, and perish:
So that men may see that you only, whose name is Yahweh, are Most High over all the earth. | That men may know that thou, whose name alone is Jehovah, art the most high over all the earth.
