| 1 | Will you for ever put me out of your memory, O Lord? will your face for ever be turned away from me? | How long wilt thou forget me, O Lord? for ever? how long wilt thou hide thy face from me? |
| 2 | How long is my soul to be in doubt, with sorrow in my heart all the day? how long will he who is against me be given power over me? | How long shall I take counsel in my soul, having sorrow in my heart daily? how long shall mine enemy be exalted over me? |
| 3 | Let my voice come before you, and give me an answer, O Lord my God; let your light be shining on me, so that the sleep of death may not overtake me; | Consider and hear me, O Lord my God: lighten mine eyes, lest I sleep the sleep of death; |
| 4 | And he who is against me may not say, I have overcome him; and those who are troubling me may not be glad when I am moved. | Lest mine enemy say, I have prevailed against him; and those that trouble me rejoice when I am moved. |
| 5 | But I have had faith in your mercy; my heart will be glad in your salvation. | But I have trusted in thy mercy; my heart shall rejoice in thy salvation. |
| 6 | I will make a song to the Lord, because he has given me my reward. | I will sing unto the Lord, because he hath dealt bountifully with me. |
